Elena is one of a very few Classic John Alden Yawls to be found anywhere in this condition. Built by Casey Boat Builders of Massachussets in 1939 shes offering you a chance to experience the thrill of sailing from an era long gone by.
Restoration in 1998 included replacing most ribs, splining, epoxing (entire structure, inside and out), and Post Curing (heat cure process) her hull. The coach roof and decks were also covered in iberglass for additional strenght. Her mast was pulled and reworked then stepped with new standing rigging. Her electrical system was also updated including new electrical panels.
Surveyed in August 2011 with all recommendations addressed and repaired.
After a significant investment in preparation to cruise her this season the current owners plans have changed and had no choice but to reluctantly put Elena up for sale.
